The Risk Assessment Process and High Hazard Risk Reduction (AIHce EXP 2022 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2022

Risk reduction, especially for high hazards, is a goal for every company, regardless of their safety record. Data has shown that although lost time incidences are on the decline, fatalities and serious injuries are not falling at the same, or similar rates. This presentation will cover the systematic strategy and tool adopted by a large, global company, to deal with these infrequent yet severe incident outcomes in a prioritized and quantifiable manner. To date, there have been over 100,000 risk assessments documented in a global database. Data will be shared to demonstrate the use of the tool and the overall risk reduction of high hazard activities. Without question, the implementation of this tool has effectively lowered risk levels associated with many higher hazard tasks and activities to acceptable levels in a documented, defensible way. The development and management of key performance indicators (KPIs) used by the company helped solidify the process and drive action at all sites. Challenges encountered, and how these challenges were addressed through the leveraging of standard work and other tools will also be discussed. These learnings are a critical part of the presentation and help allow the content to be applied at any size organization.
