Assessing Worker Well-Being Via the NIOSH Worker Well-Being Questionnaire (NIOSH WellBQ) (AIHce EXP 2022 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2022

While there is much interest in worker well-being, there has been no consistent definition of the concept nor a measurement tool to assess it. To address this gap, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the RAND Corporation conducted research to develop a conceptual framework and operationalize indicators for worker well-being. This session will summarize the initiative which consisted of: 1) a literature review to develop a definition identifying five domains of worker well-being, 2) creation of the NIOSH Worker Well-Being Questionnaire (NIOSH WellBeQ), and 3) pilot testing of the questionnaire. After the pilot test, the questionnaire was revised and released. The session will discuss the NIOSH WellBQ and how it can be used by employers, organizations, policymakers, and other stakeholders to build knowledge to better understand and improve worker well-being.
