COVID-19 and the Future of Work (AIHce EXP 2022 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2022

A year ago, when the National Safety Council released a series of reports examining state and employer responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and the future world of work. It was common to hear some variation on the phrase "six months ago, I never would have expected that we'd still be doing x." X was any of a wide variety of practices and approaches (e.g., social distancing, masking, remote work environments). Twelve months later, in the midst of the fourth wave of cases across much of the U.S., these practices have become an expected part of our daily routines as individuals and organizations. After a tumultuous year of progress, setbacks, successes and lessons learned are behind us. This session seeks to: 1) take stock of that year; 2) understand our current state; 3) cover a wide range of topics (i.e., employer approaches, effective controls, vaccine uptake and hesitancy to the future); and 4) project the future course of both COVID-19 response, based on interviews, conversations, and survey responses from organizations, leaders, and workers. This presentation will provide: a) fresh insight on where we have been challenged, b) what lessons we have learned, and c) what signs point toward an optimistic future as the U.S. and other nations navigate the transition into the next phase of the pandemic.
