Three Case Studies of Managing Remote Office and Industrial Ergonomics Processes (AIHce EXP 2022 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2022

Currently, many organizations are restricting outside visitors to facilities and office employees are working from home, but this doesn't mean that efforts to develop and execute an ergonomics process must be put on hold. This session will show that ergonomics can be managed just as effectively when done remotely. The three case studies to be presented are: 1) World-class processes take a macro ergonomics approach to design the workplace around each user and their environment. Technology is used to collect information and metrics and document risk assessment, rather than having an ergonomist on site. With the right software as a service (SaaS) solution, a single management system can drive the process across multiple sites and global operations; 2) The ability to offer online training and virtual support from an expert ergonomist will become the norm. Studies show that retention levels are high in the flipped classroom learning environment. On-demand courses are available for those new to ergonomics, or as a refresher course for more experienced individuals; and 3) Remote consultations are key to a successful ergonomics process. Technology enables one-on-one time with a professional ergonomist to provide support, answer questions, and offer improvement ideas and best practices.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this lecture, attendees will:
  • • Demonstrate the value proposition of a macro approach to an ergonomics process.
  • • Describe why the flipped classroom training approach works.
  • • Discuss the full potential remote consults offer.y
