Confined Space Violations Found by Tennessee OSHA (AIHce EXP 2022 OnDemand)

This session will provide a summary of several inspections conducted by Tennessee OSHA from October 2014 to present that resulted in the issuance of citations for violations of the Permit Required Confined Space standard 1910.146. The presentation will include a review of hazards often associated with permit required confined spaces such as those encountered when using of hazardous chemicals. Failure to use personal protective equipment (PPE) or improper use of PPE will also be discussed.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this lecture, attendees will:
  • • Identify the basic requirements of a permit required confined space program.
  • • Distinguish common hazards associated with permit required confined spaces.
  • • Determine commonly missed aspects of a permit required confined space program.
  • • Describe citations issued by Tennessee OSHA (TOSHA) during inspections involving permit required confined spaces.
