Recognizing Potential Exposures to Biological Hazards and Avoiding the Resultant Injury and Illnesses (AIHce EXP 2022 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2022

Naturally occurring plants and animals are present in a wide variety of workplaces from construction sites to waste site remediation. Thousands of workers in the United States are bitten or stung by insects, snakes and arachnids and thousands more suffer deleterious effects from contact to toxic plants. A significant percentage of these contacts result in OSHA recordable injuries and illnesses. It will help the Industrial Hygienist and Safety Professional to know how to recognize, evaluate and control potential exposure to these hazards. Teaching employees basic ideas in hazard identification and avoidance of naturally occurring biological hazards will contribute to more effective EHS programs. Additionally, dispelling some myths about first aid treatment may help save a life.

  • • Assess the H&S threat to workers posed by naturally occurring plant and animal hazards in their workplace.
