PDF_The Noise Manual, 6th edition – Topic 20: Workers' Compensation

Select only what you need from The Noise Manual, 6th edition with AIHA's new topic bundles! This bundle includes Chapter 20 from the full text, plus the cover, front matter, table of contents, symbols and abbreviations, and appendices.

In Chapter 20: Workers’ Compensation, learn the calculation for binaural hearing impairment to identify the sources of hearing loss and respond appropriately to claims. Check out the excerpt below:

“There are many reasons for preventing hearing loss. One reason that is sometimes underestimated is the cost of paying workers for their noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), an occupational disorder now scheduled (or otherwise covered) in workers’ compensation (WC) laws of most states. Payment is provided via WC insurance coverage, which is required of employers in all states. Outside of WC laws, hearing loss, monetary loss, or injury resulting from negligent failure to control noise may result in civil liability to employers, to owners of premises where employees worked, or to noise-source manufacturers.”
