Recorded in May 2021, this PDC will show how: a) flash fire and explosion hazards arise in manufacturing processes; b) the hazards can be systematically identified and assessed; and c) the most appropriate basis of safety can be selected and implemented.

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • Identify locations where flammable atmospheres could be present.
  • Describe potential ignition sources under normal/abnormal conditions.
  • List measures to prevent and protect against flash fires and explosions.
  • Locate codes and standards for flammable gas, vapor, and dust fire and explosion hazards.
