Fellows Debate: Embracing the 'Totals Principles' Worldwide TWH, TWE, THE(AIHce EXP 2021 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2021

Our profession is facing a brave new world rebranded as Healthier Workplaces, A Healthier World. We know our core focus has been protecting workers through excellence in exposure science, the Four Step Paradigm, and AARECC. Our core focus is our "Swim Lane". But our lane markers are being challenged and brave navigators are exploring the uncharted horizons where available maps are marked "Here Be Dragons". This 4th AIHA Fellows SIG Debate will present varied views of our expanding swim lane. The AIHA Content Priority Advisory Group (CPAG) has announced that Total Exposure Health/Total Worker Health® is a priority for 2020-2025. During this session, perspectives will be explored regarding the potential width of our swim lane and what dragons await in ambush beyond the uncharted edges in this brave new world. The discussion will include: 1) benefits and challenges of these approaches; 2) whether an employer has a right/responsibility to evaluate or control exposures outside the workplace; 3) whether sleep, exercise, and nutritional aspects are employer responsibilities; 4) how psychosocial factors affect workers on/off the job, and 5) effects of human factors and community exposures on worker exposures. Through this lens, six debaters will explore the future of our profession.
