Teaching Occupational Safety Through Slime (AIHce EXP 2021 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2021

The crucial conversation about safety needs to start somewhere. While it could be a serious conversation, it could also be as fun and simple as making slime. This presentation explores how slime can be used to as a STEM and foundational safety activity for children, teens, and adults to learn how to think, ask questions, and learn safety by doing. The presentation will be performed by the Women in Industrial Hygiene (WIH) Outreach Subcommittee.

Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:
  • Demonstrate an H&S example of an outreach activity which is simple to learn and replicate.
  • Communicate basic occupational safety & industrial hygiene concepts.
  • Use this, or a similar activity to create a safety culture in their local communities.
