Changing the World One OHTA Course at a Time (AIHce EXP 2021 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2021

Occupational related injuries and deaths continue to be a widespread international problem, especially in the developing world. A significant contributor to this problem is the lack of occupational health resources. Underpinning this challenge is the lack of adequately trained occupational hygienists. Based on this pressing need, the Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA) was formed in 2010 by a group of international colleagues, with AIHA being one of the early partners. OHTA provides an internationally accepted training and qualification framework which is a stepping-stone for developing OH professionals. The training materials focus on practical hands-on aspects of occupational and environmental hygiene and are free to download at www.OHlearning.com. Recent OHTA initiatives include broadened collaborations with a number of organizations, an e-Learning OS&H awareness course and online delivery of OHTA courses. Enhancing support to students and stakeholders are key to becoming a global force in the training and development of the OH profession in the developing world.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:
  • Identify resources available to develop OEHS expertise.
  • Address the role of the global OH community as a resource.
  • Develop a strategy of collaboration with established professional bodies.
  • Provide an accessible pathway for building OH capability.
