Connecting Students and Career Professionals, Part 2 (AIHce EXP 2021 OnDemand)
Course Description:
Recorded at AIHce EXP 2021

Have you noticed the IH profession shrinking as more professionals retire but less students enter practice? Is your company having a difficult time replacing staff? Does your volunteer committee or AIHA section find reaching and engaging early professionals challenging? Do you want to host an intern for the summer, but not know where to start? Are you fresh out of school and wanting to learn how to enhance your job opportunities? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this session is for you. AIHA's Student Local Section Council (SLSC) and Students and Early Career Professionals (SECP) Committee want to connect students and recent graduates with established IH professionals. This session, hosted by the Students and Early Career Professionals Committee, will cover two topics: 1) a discussion of networking and self-development strategies and how to get involved while in school or at the start of your career; and 2) a professional-led panel discussion with Q&A from the audience.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Upon completion of the session, the participant will be able to:
  • Establish poster sessions and other student activities at local section meetings.
  • Explore innovative engagement opportunities through a virtual local sections platform.
  • Leverage the AIHA Mentoring Program through Catalyst.
  • Use tools like LinkedIn Learning to sharpen professional skills.
  • Utilize Local Sections as sources of: internships, STEM outreach.
  • Review AIHA Committees as an opportunity to build skills & network.
