EHS personnel are often called upon to establish the design and operating specifications for fume hoods and laboratory ventilation systems. Establishing guidelines, selecting appropriate exposure control devices, and ensuring proper performance requires understanding of the short- and long-term needs of researchers, hazards, and how to properly employ engineering controls.
