This PDC will be live streamed from AIHce EXP in Atlanta, GA

This PDC will include an overview of the new Body of Knowledge (BOK) on real-time detection systems designed by part of the development team of the BOK. In addition, this course provides guidance to industrial hygienists, IH managers, and directors on how to implement the BOK into their existing policies and programs. The BOK is a tool to educate users of real-time detection systems and clearly define the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed to use a real-time detection systems instrument. There are four tiers of users of in real-time detection: 1) Tier 1 is the Basic user (e.g., a law enforcement officer); 2) Tier 2 is the intermediate user (e.g., a person with instrument calibration and maintenance responsibility at a firehouse); 3) Tier 3 is the Specialist user (e.g., an Industrial Hygienist using DRI for exposure assessment); and 4) Tier 4 is the Advance user (e.g., a testifying subject matter expert in DRI). The KSAs for each tier will be reviewed and discussed. This course will provide both a framework for those managing real-time detection systems equipment in their workplace and a barometer for the consulting IH on required proficiencies for real-time equipment.
