Mathematical modeling to estimate exposures can be a powerful way to gain insights into past, current, or anticipated exposures. In the past, industrial hygienists had limited options for easy to use and valid modeling tools. Here, we present a recent tool, IH Mod 2.0, outline its development, show the main contents, demonstrate the operational ease of this tool, and provide case studies for discussion. The IH Mod 2.0 MS Excel suite includes the 11 algorithms from its widely used predecessor, IH Mod 1.0. The program offers the models in either deterministic or Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) mode in Excel with no additional software needed. Graphic data presentation from the MCS mode includes the 5th, 25th, median, 75th and 95th percentiles of the calculated distribution, as concentration vs time or TWA versus time over the user specified time course. We will evaluate four scenarios, discuss model selection, parameter selection, and collaboratively run the selected models. Case studies include: 1. Concentrations in air from a semi-volatile agent present in finishing materials in a home, 2. Initial concentrations and time to re-entry for a solvent spill in a laboratory, 3. Air concentrations from a volatile mixture used in a garage, and 4. A surprise scenario.
