This course provides an in depth exploration of NFPA Standard 1620, Pre-incident Planning and its application among private and public sector HAZMAT emergency planners. The presenter will provide participants with a pre-incident plan template based on the principles outlined in NFPA Standard1620 and discuss each of the elements. The course will also entail several case studies and how pre-incident planning addresses the Chemical Safety Board's most wanted safety improvements based on dozens of investigations. This session will explain pre-incident action planning (i.e., planning, organizational and training), best practices to include implementation of unified command between private and public sector responders. Participants will be encouraged to engage in discussion throughout the course to address challenges and equip participants with this useful emergency preparedness tool.
