NIOSH's concept of Total Worker Health is rapidly gaining awareness and traction among government and nonprofit agencies and employers. AIHA is supporting this effort by advancing the subset of knowledge related to Total Worker Exposure as a content priority for the association. The Total Worker Exposure concept asks the industrial hygienist to consider all exposures that workers face on the job and all the outcomes that may result from these exposures. Industrial hygienists should become more familiar with the available TWH research efforts and tools available to support the advancement of the Total Worker Exposure concept. Many of the existing tools already used regularly by industrial hygienists are well suited to contribute to our knowledge and understanding of the Total Worker Exposure concept. In this session, both the application of Total Worker Exposure concepts to the current professional workplace in a large corporation and the current work of the NIOSH TWH Centers of Excellence will be explored, as well as opportunities for future, collaborative research with industrial hygienists.
