Fellows Debate: To Certify or Not to Certify - Do OHS Professional Certifications Matter? (AIHce EXP 2019 OnDemand)
	Recorded at AIHce EXP 2019 Earn 1 Contact Hour During this session perspectives will be explored as to whether professional certifications matter and why or why not. We all have colleagues we consider competent and knowledgeable OSH professionals who are not certified, or perhaps you have chosen to not pursue certification. Is attaining a professional certification the only way to demonstrate expertise and competency, or can this be demonstrated through one's ability to perform the responsibilities of a job? What has been the impact of technology and the proliferation of easy access to information on the need for professional certification? Is professional certification relevant in the 21st Century? Six debaters will be divided into two groups, and each group will take one side (yea or nay) regarding the need for OHS professional certification each of whom will have 5 minutes each to present their views on the subject. At the conclusion of the presentations the floor will be open to the attendees to ask questions of the debaters, offer their own opinions on the subject, and engage in additional discussion.
