Recorded at AIHce EXP 2019 Reference Material for the Measurement of Metals in Workplace Air The scientific institutes of the German Social Accident Insurance have developed a method to prepare a large number of evenly loaded membrane filters with metal dust. After installation of a heat register for better control of the environmental conditions, it is possible to prepare up to five series of filters containing up to 112 filters each. The preparation of a reference material needs several quality control measures like analyses from independent laboratories and stabiltity tests. After finishing these tests, the reference material will be available. Atmospheres containing formaldehyde concentrations in typical indoor air were sampled to compare the accuracy and sensitivity across the different sampler types. Variables such as temperature, humidity, and wind velocity were measured during testing. The data generated can be used to select appropriate samplers for the conditions and data requirements. Cinnaminson, NJ United States of America Generation and Evaluation of Reference Samples as Part of an Evacuated Canister Interlaboratory Study Evacuated canisters offer an opportunity to expand on the way volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are measured in indoor air quality investigations, industrial hygiene assessments, and emergency response scenarios. There is a growing need for alternative sampling methods for VOCs as traditional sorbent tube sampling methods may not adequately capture the multitude of chemicals present in mixed exposure environments due to sorbent-analyte specificity. This study is part of a larger effort designed to address this need across a suite of 17 VOCs. This study assesses generation and evaluation methods for the production of reference evacuated canister samples as part of an interlaboratory study.
