Life's Work: A 50 Year Photographic Chronicle of Working in the U.S.A.
In this 50-year retrospective photographic volume containing 500 beautifully reproduced images, renowned photographer, Earl Dotter chronicles his five decades behind the lens documenting American workers of all descriptions. In each of the book's 15 chapters, Dotter reprises highlights from exhibits he has created since he first photographed coal miners in 1968 and on up through the present time with his BADGES: A Memorial Tribute to Asbestos Workers exhibit, he personalizes the ongoing toll taken today from environmentally related exposure to asbestos. Earl Dotter has enlisted over thirty recognized experts who introduce each book chapter and add illustrated commentary on specific related issues at the close of each chapter, greatly broadening the scope of this repository of distinguished workplace images. And for the first time, Mr. Dotter traces his own photographic trajectory with an illustrated Postscript section to close this powerfully visual occupational, environmental and public health documentary achievement.
