This document is intended to provide guidance on the design, installation, maintenance, and safe operating practices for rack storage areas. Safety considerations in the design of product and material racking systems and warehouse facilities are reviewed and include the aspects related to the material handling process. This guideline also summarizes facility, structural (floor load capacity), and operational (layout, aisle widths, area lighting, material handling equipment) concerns.
