Chemical detection and exposure assessment are a cornerstone of occupational safety and health. Direct reading and field portable instruments are used throughout the oil and gas industry to alert workers to unsafe atmospheres, to determine average exposures over time, identify hazard sources and patterns of individual worker exposures. Because of their immediate feedback and increasing ease of use, these methods are valuable tools to ensure worker safety and health.
