Regulators are calling for enhanced requirements to manage combustible dust hazard. The outcome of a poorly managed combustible dust hazard is usually catastrophic resulting in loss of property and life thereby impacting business continuity. It is vital that practicing H&S professionals be calibrated to recognize, evaluate, and control this hazard. This includes how to interpret testing data, implement effective control strategies, and institute robust programs to manage combustible dust risk. This RT will highlight key lessons learned from recent CSB investigations, what to expect in an OSHA inspection, and the status of the OSHA NEP and the rule making efforts. This roundtable will also highlight key aspects governing combustible dust hazards, including standards, best practices, and tools that H&S practitioner can leverage to improve the workplace conditions.
