Session Arranger and Moderator: R. Metzler, Richard W Metzler Inc.

In 2002, NIOSH was approved as the American National Standards Institute’s U.S. Sponsoring Standards Development Organization for the International Organization for Standardization’s Technical Committee 94 Personal Safety Protective Clothing and Equipment, Subcommittee 15 Respiratory Protective Devices. U.S. experts have invested significant expertise and time conducting research and round-robin testing. Twenty one voting nations are working collaboratively to draft respiratory protective device performance standards based on the needs of the wearers rather than the capabilities of present day respirator technologies. The objective of this roundtable is to educate conference attendees on what the standards are, how they compare to U.S. standards, and potential national and international benefits and challenges of ISO respiratory protective device standards used in the U.S.
